Riitta Värinen
Turku, 1992. Riita Värinen is a Finnish visual artist based in Turku. She is studying a Degree in Physical Sciences at UTU - University of Turku and has recently completed the program Concept Photography at Fatamorgana School of Photography in Copenhagen. In her work as an artist, Riita uses photography and digital imaging to explore the tensions between the most banal objects and the scientific properties that underlie their existence. Her pieces examine the new ecologies and question our relationships with the aesthetics of the anthropocene. Her work has been exhibited in several group shows in Finland. Recently she has created her own publishing label from which she self-publishes her work and that of other Finnish artists in the form of small monographic fanzines.
